Guidelines for Opening / Upgradation of Libraries
Opening of new part time Libraries
Part Time Libraries are opened in villages which have no libraries with the population more than 1000. The following conditions should be met by the General public / panchayat Board president of concerned village.
Conditions
- Rent Free Building should be handed over to Local Library Authority concerned.
- 5 cent vacant land for the construction of own library building should be registered in the name of Local Library Authority concerned.
- Two Library patrons should be enrolled by payment of Rs.1000/- each
- 200 Members should be enrolled with caution Deposit Rs. 20/- and annual subscription Rs.10/- from each member
- Furniture for the value of Rs.2000/- should be handed over as donation.
Upgradation of Part Time Libraries to Village Libraries
- Directorate of Public Libraries opens Part Time Libraries in the villages with more than 1000 population where no libraries available.
- Based on the increase in number of readers, memberships, lending and patrons, the substantially used Part Time Libraries are upgraded as Village Libraries.
Upgradation of Village Libraries to Branch Libraries
- Directorate of Public Libraries opens Part Time Libraries in the villages with more than 1000 population where no libraries available. Based on the increase in number of readers, memberships, lending and patrons, the substantially used Part Time Libraries are upgraded as Village Libraries.
- After that, based on the increase in usage, the village libraries are further upgraded as Branch Libraries .
Upgradation of Branch Libraries to Full Time Libraries
- Directorate of Public Libraries opens Part Time Libraries in the villages with more than 1000 population where no libraries available. Based on the increase in number of readers, memberships, lending and patrons, the substantially used Part Time Libraries are upgraded as Village Libraries.
- After that, based on the increase in usage, the village libraries are further upgraded as Branch Libraries
Accordingly, the Branch Libraries are further upgraded as Full Time Libraries based on their increasing usage by public
